I read an article in Parenting magazine this weekend titled "Boys vs. Girls". Now I don't know about anyoneelse, but I sometimes wonder if my kids are normal. Between seeing Family, Friends and neighborhood kids I often find myself comparing my boys behavior to other kids. If you could only hear my inner thoughts. Why are J and J constantly jumping on and off of things? Why do they both have an obsession with climbing up the stair banister? Why do they ALWAYS want to wrestle....even with me?? Why doesn't Johnny want to explain his school day to me? Why do I have to continually tell them NO and they never seem to listen?? When I take them out front to play why do they want to run away while I watch other people's kids playing peacefully?? Why doesn't Jacob talk anywhere near as well as most of the little girls his age we know?? And the list goes on and on.....!!!
It is so very nice to say that this article has really helped put my questions at ease. Basically it states that Boys are a much bigger handful in the earlier years and then will continually get easier while girls start our much easier and then decline some. Good luck with the teenage years all of you Moms with girls!! I am still a nasty soul to be around when PMSing!! I am just hoping that the article is true...in the sense that the boys will start to settle down!! Here is the Breakdown of categories and who is harder:

I am just hoping that the article is true...in the sense that the boys will start to settle down!! Here is the Breakdown of categories and who is harder:
1. Discipline.......BOYS
2. Physical Safety........BOYS
3. Communication......First BOYS, Then GIRLS
4. Self-esteem.......GIRLS
5. School.........Mostly BOYS
I now feel completely comfortable with ALL of the wrestling and need for practicing dangerous things on a daily basis!!! They are after all BOYS and unfortunately are just more RAMBUNCTIOUS by nature!! I guess that at the end of the day it all boils down to......What is normal??? Can you even label that??...and whose to say what normal is anyways??? I have two beautiful and healthy boys who have completely changed my life. They truly are mine and John's GREATEST gift....normal or not! :)

You know, I think parenting is just plain hard work, boy or girl. I constantly have to remind myself that the issues that Josh and I face right now are so teeny tiny compared to what is to come down the road: driving (YIKES!), dating, and disciplining a teen.
But, like you said, the love that you feel for your child makes all of the hard work worth every struggle, strife, and worry...and then some. : )
You're doing a great job.
Katie
I agree completely and like the way you summed it up. Who does clarify whar "normal" is especially when you are dealing with personalities! Good post :)
